FAQs
Answers to common questions we receive.
How large can the Louvre Roof be?
Our louvre roofs can be configured to cover almost any size area by joining multiple sections together. Each individual louvre roof has a maximum dimension of 5.7 metres in length and 4 metres in width.
Do I need consent to install a Louvre Roof system?
Under Schedule 1 of the Building Act, structures like porches or verandas up to 20m² can generally be installed without consent. Larger structures or those affecting the watertightness or structure of your existing building may require consent. Our knowledgeable team can guide you through the requirements and help with the necessary steps.
Can the louvre roof be attached directly to my house?
Yes, it can. Attachment depends on your house’s structure. For homes with large windows, we can fasten to the lintels above them. Weatherboard and sheet cladding structures allow us to fasten to the studs. Brick homes might need support from the roof structure. Our experienced team will discuss the best options for your specific situation.
Can I customise the louvre roof to match my house?
Absolutely! All COS louvre roofs are custom-made to fit your design preferences, including a Dulux® Powder Coat finish to match your decor.
What materials do we use for our louvre roofs?
Our louvre roofs are made from high-grade, powder-coated aluminum, designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. The aluminum is treated to resist corrosion and maintain its aesthetic appeal over time.
Are there options for automation with the louvre roofs?
Yes, our louvre roofs come with options for automation, including remote control operation and integration with weather sensors. This allows for easy adjustment of the louvres to control sunlight, ventilation, and protection from the elements.
Can we add drop-down screens or LED lighting later?
Yes, though it’s more cost-effective to include these features in your initial order for seamless integration. Adding them later might require partial deconstruction of the louvre roof, resulting in additional costs. If you plan to add these features in the future, let us know during the initial order so we can prepare the structure accordingly.
What do the wind and rain sensors do?
These sensors automatically adjust the louvre roof in response to weather conditions. The roof will close when it rains and pull up the drop-down screens when wind speeds are too high, providing convenience and protection tailored to your needs.
